10 Places We Love In Mumbles

Mumbles is the gateway to Gower. It is loved by locals and tourists for its atmosphere, boutique shops, great eateries and lucky for us at Belvoir, it is also home to one of our three offices.

There’s always such a fantastic buzz in the area, especially during the summer months. So, to help you navigate the ‘must-visits’ and ‘need to eats’, we’ve collated a list of some of our favourite places in Mumbles, so you can see for yourself why it’s one of the UK’s most idyllic places to live.

1. Gin & Juice

Enjoy spectacular seafront views at Gin & Juice’s rooftop bar, whilst sipping on an iconic Gin Fizz. Open from 10am until late, Gin & Juice is the perfect place to kick back, relax, and take in the very best of Mumbles. Here you will also find beautiful dishes for all tastes from breakfast and brunch, right through to an evening dinner. Their must-try is the steak frites with garlic and truffle butter sauce.

2. Joes Ice Cream

Joe’s, named after the son of Luigi Casarini, who founded the business in 1898, is famous for its delicious, signature vanilla ice cream. Over the years we have seen an abundance of indulgent flavours introduced to this iconic parlour, pleasing the tastebuds of generations past and present. Offering seasonal specialties, there’s always something new to try at Joes, alongside the classics locals love. Perfect for strolling around the seaside! This is a must-visit for any trip or stay in Swansea.

3. Môr

The best produce from the sea and soil, this independent restaurant works with local suppliers to source the finest ingredients used in its show-stopping dishes. Guests can enjoy everything from traditional large plates to light bite tapas. For culinary connoisseurs, you can also take part in a unique experience, the ‘Mor Butchery Course’. This personalised experience gives you the chance to learn how to butcher, prepare and cook Gower salt marsh lamb. It also includes a five-course meal, with wine pairing.

4. No.64

No 64. offers the best in beauty and hair care, specialising not only in top quality hair treatment, but also providing a completely indulgent experience with every visit. Nestled in the heart of Newton Road, you can combine your appointment with a mooch around the ‘top shops’. This salon is also where our MD, Ben Davies, gets his hair cut, so it’s doubly approved by us at Belvoir!

5. Olive & Oils

What started as selling loose olives and olives oils at local food markets, this deli has become an iconic piece of the Mumbles story, which you can find at the bottom of Newton Road. This unique business has expanded its offer of oils and deli treats, and sources the best products and ingredients from around Europe and further afield, which includes indulgent cheeses and charcuterie. Not only can you source exclusive delicacies here, but their online blog also provides the latest information in culinary news. Open from 8am-3pm daily, pop down and visit this team of deli experts!

6. Mediterranean Restaurant

This Turkish restaurant is one you will never forget, not just for the deliciously authentic Turkish dishes, but for the exceptional service. The team here are truly passionate about their business and about making each visit as memorable as possible for guests. This is an ideal spot for dates, celebrations and even casual get-togethers; enjoy large sharing platters, break pide with friends and devour the best kebabs in town.

7. Boo’s Kitchen

Open daily, Boo’s Kitchen is bursting with colour, fresh ingredients and mouth-watering vegan dishes which taste just as good as they look! This is a go-to for a spot of brunch with friends or just a quiet coffee in this Mumbles nook. You’ll often find exciting specials on the menu too, which keeps you wanting more.

8. 93 Bakes

Creating bespoke, celebration cakes to order, 93 Bakes is the go-to for extra special occasions. Perfect for anniversaries, birthday celebrations, weddings and more, this fantastic business in the heart of Mumbles creates beautifully decorated bakes and cakes full of mouth-watering flavours. Treat yourself with their takeaway coffee and baked goods made fresh in the bakery, daily! Find them on Stanley Street, just opposite the Bevloir Mumbles office.

9. Verdi’s

Verdi’s is a Mumbles institution. You can’t visit Mumbles without an ice cream or feast at Verdi’s. Situated on the seafront en route to Mumbles Pier, you’ll find the picturesque building which has become a core part of the Mumbles landscape since it first opened 30 years ago. This Italian favourite offers spectacular panoramic views across Swansea Bay, which you can enjoy with either coffee and cake, or even a pizza or pasta dish lovingly created by the team of authentic Italian chefs.

10. Cheers

Since opening in 1983, Cheers has evolved from its humble beginnings as a wine merchant, serving predominately the local community of Mumbles and Swansea, to now making a name for itself on the UK stage.

Its selection of wines, spirits, beers, and champagne is vast, and their knowledge is hugely respected within the community, evident in the number of awards won, including being listed in the ‘Top 50 Indies in the UK’, for the last three years.
