Staging to Sell - the Outdoor Space

When selling a property during the warmer months, it’s a huge advantage to have any outdoor space and to use it to your advantage to create a lifestyle that your buyers will be inspired by.

Having spent much of the past two years in our homes, the appeal of a garden, deck, terrace or patio of any size has grown in importance as we seek more fresh air for our mental health and wellness.

When preparing your home for sale, be critical of your own space and scrutinise it as if you were a buyer – are the fence panels in need of a coat of paint or the deck could do with a jet wash?

If your space is hard-scaped such as decking or patio, ensure these are mildew free and stained with a fresh layer of paint or stain.

Grass should be cut, plants pruned and borders weeded before adding any final lifestyle pieces to sell the dream.

Outdoor rugs have become popular to use with seating and tables, they help create a ‘living’ zone and will add some colour and texture and a feeling of homely comfort.

Adding different elements of lighting including candles, lanterns and string lights will help create ambience for any evening viewings.

Above all think of the outdoors as a true extension of your home and a place to create interest and really maximise your sale!
