Hempsted Village

Hempsted is a suburban village located on the south-west of Gloucester, within a ten minute walk of Sainsburys and Gloucester Quays Outlet Village and Entertainment Complex.

Benefiting from an oxbow location to the main commuter traffic into Gloucester and with just under 50% of the residents aged over 35 (2021 census), the village has a mature and peaceful feel to it.

Notable central features of the village include:
one of smallest village schools in the City of Gloucester; the Norman church of St. Swithun named after the miracle performing Bishop of Winchester, famous feast day (15 July) and prophetic weather poem ‘whatever the weather on St Swithin’s Day’ whether rain or sunshine, it will continue for the next 40 days and nights’. There is also a village post office & convenience store and walks along the picturesque Gloucester & Sharpness Canal.

The average price of a home over the last 12 months was £236,000, up 10.8% in the past 5 years; with the most expensive house selling in August 2023 at £635,000.
