The new Busway transport link is and will continue to attract Buy-to-Let landlords to Dunstable and Houghton Regis

In the last 6 months we have been surprised how many potential landlords and tenants have been making their decisions to buy or rent in Dunstable and Houghton Regis because they view the Busway in a positive way. A large number of potential tenants living in Luton have enquired about the opening date as they are planning on moving to Dunstable or Houghton Regis, but will continue to work in Luton. Even the Buy-to-Let Landlords from London are making their decision to invest in the area because of the improved transport links.

There are, and will be for some time many opinions and arguments about the purpose, cost and success of the new Busway from different sections of the community. Many will be valid for their own reasons, but it is nearly here now and we should embrace and work with it.

Statistics say that about 43,000 vehicles travel along the A505 and other routes between Houghton Regis, Dunstable and Luton each day and from our shop on Church Street in Dunstable we witness the stress caused to everyone stuck in the traffic for what must seem an eternity waiting for the traffic lights at the main junction in Dunstable to change.

To be honest it is unlikely that the Busway will ease much of this congestion and if it does it won’t be too long before the numbers creep back up again, but for the public who rely on the bus service to take them to Luton it will be a godsend, cutting the average peak hour journey time between Dunstable and Luton in half. For a Buy-to-Let Landlord looking to invest this will increase the number of good quality tenants coming to Dunstable and Houghton Regis to benefit from the improved transport links and if this brings more money into the community it can only help the local economy.

Improved transport links will always have an effect on house prices and it will be interesting to see what happens to house prices in Dunstable and Houghton Regis over the next year or two as more people realise the benefit of the Busway.
