5 Décor tips for tiny spaces

Whether you live in a tiny home out of necessity or out of preference, decorating may prove tricky for anyone who is new to a smaller living space. Luckily, there are many ways to make a cramped room feel lighter and more open. In this week’s blog article, we share some of our best décor tips for tiny living spaces.

Furniture

Keep in mind that your floor space is limited, and you don’t want your furniture to take up more space than necessary. Avoid bulky sofas and tables. Rather go for stools instead of big armchairs and ladder style shelving instead of heavy bookcases.

Colours

It’s  important not to have too many different colours that might catch the eye. Lighter colours are better at creating space. However, if you do go with some colour, choosing a colour scheme could make the room feel more uniform and less chaotic and busy.

Light

Natural light is your best asset when opening up a space. Get rid off heavy curtains and rather go with roller blinds or shutters. If you do go with curtains, make sure it’s light and can easily be swept away from the windows to let in the light.

Mirror trick

This age-old trick instantly creates the illusion of more space. The mirror’s reflection of light and its effect of doubling the interior will make any small space seem almost twice it’s size. Go with a lighter frame to keep up with the airy feel of the room.

Go vertical

Don’t let vertical space go to waste. Find clever ways to create vertical storage solutions, like ladder shelves. Mount your television on the wall instead of it taking up more of the floor space. Creating a few focus points higher on the wall will direct the eye upward and will also create the illusion of space.
