Is your property rated ‘E’ or less on the energy performance certificate (EPC)? You have under 10 months to get that rating up! We can help.

For those who do not know, 2016 saw the government declare that all tenanted properties must achieve a minimum ‘E’ rating in their EPC or face restrictions on granting new tenancies. Belvoir Mansfield will be evaluating properties in our portfolio to ensure that any properties that do not meet this criteria will be evaluated to see what they can do to bring the energy saving measures up.

Michael Keywood, Property Expert of Belvoir Mansfield Sales & Lettings, says: ‘this should already be on a landlord’s mind because tenants are very much aware of the financial implications a poor EPC can have on their monthly expenses when it comes to energy bills which plays a part in their decision-making process when looking at renting a property.’

‘We will be working closely with the Nottingham Energy Partnership (NEP) and Healthy Housing Service so we are capable of understanding what work is necessary, and possible, to bring an EPC up to an appropriate standard. Examples include insulation to the walls and ceiling, draught-proofing, installing a new boiler and repairing or replacing doors and windows!’

Figures taken from the UKACE put 20% of the UK population in ‘fuel poverty,’ 6.9% of a UK household’s income is spent on energy bills and 15.9% are living in a home in poor repair. Fuel poverty should not be acceptable in today’s day and age.

Belvoir Mansfield Sales & Lettings is the only property agent in North Nottinghamshire accredited as an ‘Investor In the Environment(IIE).’
