No tricks, all treats! Have you visited these bars and restaurants in Nottingham yet?

Nottingham has always had a great reputation for gifting us with quirky bars and restaurants that have plenty of character!

We’ve compiled a list of bars and restaurants that have had shining reviews, and we’ve included some hidden gems, too. Have you tried them yet?

No tricks.. all treats!

1.    Alchemilla

Firstly, how could we not include the winner of Nottingham’s Best Overall Restaurant 2019 AND best fine dining restaurant for 2019?

The restaurant, which dates back to the Victorian era and was once a coaching house, provides a subterranean redbrick backdrop for dining with archways, skylights, an open kitchen by the entrance, and living walls.

And we almost forgot to mention that Alchemilla boasts a Michelin Star, and is the second restaurant in the county to receive the prestigious award!

If it’s a special occasion, get a table booked! Alchemilla serves five, seven and ten course tasting menus, diners who opt for wine pairings, can expect to pay £100 to £150 per person.

2.    31K

31K is situated in a building that was disused for more than a decade and has been transformed into Hockley's newest cocktail bar and restaurant.

The once empty shell has been converted into 31K, a rustic, stripped-back venue with exposed brick walls and a mezzanine level which uses the high-ceilinged space to the max.

31K wants to make a name for itself by introducing simple, straightforward pricing. All cocktails are £7 or £8 for two the same. Wine is from £4 a glass to £16 a bottle while beer is £3, £4 and £5 a pint.

What more could you want?

3.    Masala Junction

Set in a former bank, this rather grand high-ceiled Indian restaurant in Carrington is where experienced restaurateur Naj Aziz works his magic providing customers with exemplary service and delicious flavours.

Foodies can choose from starters such as Battakh Tikka, tandoori duck breast, or the signature Junction Champen, charcoal-grilled lamb chops Lahori style.

That’s also not forgetting the wine list, crafted by one of only 230 Master Sommeliers worldwide, is unique and reflects ideal pairing with the style of food at the restaurant.

Definitely worth a visit!

4.    The Herbert Kilpin

Named after ‘the’ Herbert Kilpin, who was born in Nottingham and later became the founder of A.C Milan, this tucked away gem is a beer lovers delight.

The Herbert Kilpin has established a reputation for its range of cask and craft beers, where they pride themselves on having a ‘beer for everyone’ Five cask-conditioned ales are usually available, always including beer from Nottingham brewery Black Iris. Ten keg products are available, including Freedom lager. The venue regularly hosts beer events.

Take a trip down there.. If you can find it!

5.    Yamas

Yamas, a Mediterranean Meze and Tapas restaurant on Thurland Street is one of those restaurants that is so good, that you end up back there time and time again! (but perhaps that’s just because there are so many tapas dishes to work through and we want to try them all?)

Yamas announced in September that they are expanding the restaurant into the unit next door to keep up with the growing demand over the past 12 years – you have to book at this one if you want a chance of getting a seat!

The menu is reasonably priced, with great deals available from Wednesday to Saturday until 4pm – 3 tapas or meze dishes for £8.95.
