SomeGreat Places To Discover In The Northwich & Congleton Area

Spring is here and now the weather is getting milder it’s the perfect time to explore the huge & diverse attractions Northwich, Congleton and their surrounding areas have to offer. Our region is an amazing place to explore and play, with fantastic walks, stunning views, and plenty of adventures for the whole family.

Here is a handy list (but by no means exhaustive) of the places The Belvoir Family have been to…some many times. A few you are rather tucked away or not so well known, or perhaps have been re-vamped since you have last been. Apologies for our little mans face popping up all over the blog…we get about as a family!

Wheelock Farm- a firm family favourite with plenty on offer. It has a huge outdoor play which caters for children of all ages including traditional park equipment  go karts, obstacle courses, a maize and giant trampoline domes. It has a lovely little petting farm where you can meet some little cuties and giant pigs! It also has an indoor play area, café and lovely farm shop filled with gifts and goodies. Goostrey Home and leisure with its gorgeous food and cakes, farm shop, quaint little wine bar and fantastic little outdoor play area, this gem is not just your average garden centre. Goostrey Home & Leisure (goostreyhomeandleisure.co.uk)

Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve Pool– is one of our many local nature reserves offering an adventurous scout around the mere and its surrounding woodland. You can even treat yourselves to an ice cream or creamy milk treat across the road at the innovative Cow Shed

Walton Hall and Gardens, Warrington Just a short drive from Northwich but totally worth it. There is a playground, small children’s zoo, café, mini- train rides, crazy golf, alpaca walks, plenty of space to play and picnic and lots more going on for special events.

Marbury Country Park and Carey park This is undoubtable one of our favourite place in Northwich. It is is an amazing place for adventures and we seem to discover a different bit every time we go. It is fantastic beautiful walks or a play in the woodland where den building is a must. There is a fantastic play ground and huge playing fields close by. This place can entertain for hours so ensure to take a pic nic …and maybe some nibbles for feeding the ducks on the huge boating lake.

Delamere Forest, Northwich This incredible adventurous forest has so much to offer every person and their dog! It is accessible by its very own train station, you’ll find easy-going trails for all abilities whether on foot or bike. There is even bike hire available on site. If you would rather get a bird’s eye view of the forest, you can have a go at the incredible Go Ape ropes course or have a spin around the forest on a Segway. Our little one just loves the seasonal trails they create there….The Gruffalo is a big hit!

Delamere Forest | Forestry England

Blakemere Craft Centre & Forest With its lovely setting and discovery woodland walks this is a great place to spend hours of fun. There is play area, children’s rides, Segway’s, archery, pottery & crafts, crazy golf and an incredible birds of prey centre. There are is also a choice of quaint little independent gift shops and nice places to have some food or sweet treats. There are fabulous activities to be enjoyed & seasonal events to watch out for on their website and social media sites

Anderton Boat lift and visitors centre- offers a fantastic family day out with lots on offer from boat trips to seeing how the boat lift works, a pay area for the children and a lovely coffee shop offering tasty treats…..and its FREE to look around the centre and play.

Church Walk Paddling Pool– We love this place when its nice weather and have been going since our little boy was 1…and at 5 still loves it. So get booked in & pack a picnic and enjoy a splash…..oh yes and there is a great little play park just outside to finish off your day of fun. Church Walk Paddling Pool – Northwich Town Council

Tatton Park, Knutsford – Is a firm Belvoir Family favourite. With 1,000 acres of parkland to explore and wild deer to bring you so close to nature, it not to be missed any time of the year. There are also beautiful gardens, a farm with rare breed animals and a great outdoor play area. With so much space and woodland to walk, cycle, scoot and discover as well as the seasonal demonstrations and event to look out for this is a definite for your list.

Tatton Park | Cheshire | National Trust

Cheshire Ice Cream Farm- Offers an award winning selection of indoor and outdoor fun for the whole family. From Strawberry Falls Adventure Golf, Daisy’s Garden, Rocky Road and Silvercone racing track to Mini Scoop, Mini Tractors, and Gemstone Cove,  there is plenty of outdoor activities. There is also an indoor soft play for the younger ones and café to refuel for more fun.

Joderall Bank– Is a spectacular place for discovery of all things out there. If you are into science, the stars or just enjoy a fun time of interactive things to do and see this is a great place to visit. With outside exhibits to enjoy and indoor exceptional 3D films this is a definate place to vsist…and the bonus is once you have paid to get in once you can visit as many times as you like the same year…we are on our 5th visit already!

BeWILDERWOOD- We have been to this amazing tree top adventure place in all kinds of weather and still had a fabulous day full of fun, imagination & adventure. There’s so much to explore among the magical treehouses, mazes in the sky, rope bridges, slides and zip wires. Such a brilliant addition to Cheshire outdoor adventure list!

Crocky Trail   – Get your waterproofs on and get yourself along to this mile long adventure of adrenaline drenched fun as you scramble through the trees, climb the crooked bridges and swing over the Crocky stream. The slides there are like no other I have been on believe me! There is plenty there for all ages from younger to older children, with specific age restrictions in place for certain attractions. . We first went with our little one at 4 years old but do check out the website to ensure its suitable for those who want to go

Kids Adventure Park Chester – The Crocky Trail Waverton

Manley Mere Is an action packed water centre for all. It boasts a fantastic Kids Watersports Holiday Club, Adventure Trail, Aqua Park,  Open Water Swimming, Watersports Lessons Self Launch and Hire and tasty Chameleon Cafe Bar to refuel.  Thisaction packed  outdoor centre has it all for a fun filled day out.


The FlashesWinsford_ A a must if you like a little discovery, outdoor fun and we have take a scavenger hunt to make is more of an adventure!

Owely Wood Weaverham – Is truly a hidden gem. In lockdown we spent hours  at a time here, building dens & dams, doing scavenger hunts, playing poo sticks and jumping in the stream.

Gauntlet Birds of Prey, Knutsford– This unique park is home to more 180 birds from 50 different species – the largest collection in the north west. You can meet the birds and even watch flying demonstrations Home – Gauntlet Birds of Prey

Play Areas- There are so many fantastic play grounds  in and around Northwich. A few of our favourites are Sandiway (take your bucket & spade), Town Park Winsford, Moulton and Leftwich park.
