Help those in need..

Belvoir food bank donations

With the cost of living crisis worsening by the week, more and more families face not having basic food over the festive season. Between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2022, food banks in the Trussell Trust’s UK wide network distributed over 2.1 million emergency food parcels to people in crisis. This is an increase of 14% compared to the same period in 2019/20. 832,000 of these parcels went to children alone.

With this in mind, Belvoir Leamington Spa have decided, instead of the usual secret santa office tradition, we will use the money to donate to our local food banks. We are spreading the word early in the hope of receiving as much as possible from local shops/businesses and local residents to help those in need.

So what are the best items to donate? Long life products and items with a long “use by” date are best:

  • Canned Soup
  • Canned fruits/vegetables
  • Baked beans/spaghetti hoops etc
  • Pasta, rice, cous cous, noodles, porridge oats
  • Condiments – ketchup, mayonnaise, jams, Nutella, peanut butter
  • Tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate
  • Cooking oil
  • Tin foil
  • Long life milk, fruit juices, cartons
  • Sweet treats, chocolate, biscuits, sweets, cereal bars
  • Pet food
  • Crisps
  • Toiletries – shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, shower gel, soap, bubble bath
  • Personal hygiene – sanitary towels/tampons, toilet roll, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sponges, nappies, baby wipes
  • Cleaning supplies – dishwasher tablets, laundry products, antibacterial spray and cloths

Foods not to bring include baked goods, expired foods or items needing refrigeration as these are harder to store.

Our collection starts from the 1st November and we will be delivering all goods on the 14th December, please feel free to pop by with your donations during our working hours (Mon – Fri 9:00am – 5:00pm or Sat 10:00am – 2:30pm), every little helps!
