House prices throughout Merseyside have increased substantially over the past 20 years according to figures from the Land Registry price paid data.
There were 15 postcodes in England Wales where prices have increased ten-fold or more over the past two decades.
Between 1995 and 2015, inflation was 73%, according to the Bank of England, so £1 in 1995 would be worth £1.73 in 2015, meaning house prices in many areas have strongly outpaced inflation.
Looking at three popular postcodes in Liverpool City Centre, here are the examples based on postcodes with six or more sales in both 1995 and 2015,
In postcode area L1 9, the median price in 1995 was £30,000. By 2015 it was £365,000. Prices are 12.2 times higher in 2015 than in 1995.
In postcode area L3 3, the median price in 1995 was £28,950. By 2015 it was £90,000. Prices are 3.1 times higher in 2015 than in 1995.
In postcode area L8 6, the median price in 1995 was £15,000. By 2015 it was £121,995. Prices are 8.1 times higher in 2015 than in 1995.
