The house was built in 1903 by Sir David Gamble and transferred to his son shortly after it's completion.
There is a fabulous picture of Mr Gamble outside the property located in the entrance vestibule of the property.
During WW2 it was rumoured that the then Princess Elizabeth was staying at Lord Derby's estate, the German airforce aimed to bomb the estate to cause a propaganda coup. Unfortunately or fortunately for us they were given inaccurate coordinates and dropped the bomb on Victoria Park mistaking the Mansion house for Lord Derby's home. The bombs also hit the ground next to our property demolishing the water pump which was housed there.
After the war was over the decision was made to build 2 new houses on the site and the subject property number was changed from number 2 to number 6. Only 4 occupants have ever lived in the house since 1903.
