Skipton; Local Information
For those of you who don’t know Skipton let me introduce this beautiful town and area to you.
Situated in North Yorkshire it is gateway to the idyllic Yorkshire Dales. It is a busy rural market town and is surrounded by some of the most scenic landscape in the UK. The Dales are on our doorstep and the Lake District is a short drive away. Skipton is very well serviced by road and rail (not to mention it’s canal) and is in the commuter belt for the major cities of Leeds, Bradford and Manchester. Leads/Bradford airport is a short drive away.
We enjoy a huge and diverse variety of employment in the area and are extremely grateful to have such a wide choice of jobs and careers.
Our schooling, be it, primary or secondary is second to none. Parents move to Skipton from literally all over the world to get their children into our wonderful schools.
The History of Skipton dates back a thousand years when its famous castle was first built. Skipton an ancient Saxon word meaning sheep town has been a market town for centuries dealing in sheep and wool. It is now a bustling friendly market town, the hub of activity for all the surrounding dales villages and I am very fortunate to live and work in such a beautiful place.
