Lottie’s Guides to Peterborough: A quick introduction to living in Sawtry

Wondering what life may be like living in Sawtry? Just west of the Fens and with fantastic access to the AI(M), this friendly village is great for commuters as well as countryside-lovers.

A close community and the freedom of the great outdoors

Ten miles south of Peterborough awaits the large village of Sawtry, a popular commuter village thanks largely to its convenient access to the AI(M). With a population of just over 6,500 you can expect a friendly community feel, with plenty of amenities on your doorstep. Not to mention a number of good schools, a selection of clubs and plenty of glorious spots for lovers of the great outdoors to explore.

Schools

If you’ve got little ones in tow – or are planning on starting a family soon – it goes without saying that you’d like to move to an area with at least one or two decent schools nearby. Sawtry won’t disappoint you in that department, with a selection of primary and secondary schools rated highly by Ofsted.

Grocery shops

Sometimes there’s nothing better than cooking a nice meal at home for yourself and your special someone, before cosying up on the sofa with a good film. You’ll be able to find all the common ingredients you need – not to mention a decent bottle of wine – at Sawtry’s grocery shops.

Clubs

Sawtry’s strong sense of community is partly down to the number of clubs that are available to join. Take your cricket, football or badminton skills to the next level. Or for something less sporty how about joining the camera club, astronomical society or dance group? There’s also a history society and, for those with dulcet tones, a chorale.

Anything else you should know?

Are you a fan of all things furry and four-legged? Then pay a visit to Hamerton Zoo Park, where you will find cheetahs, tigers, servals, wolves, corsac foxes, lemurs, monkeys and an awful lot more. Or for a different kind of escapism, lace up your walking boots and head for the frondescent beauty of Monks Wood – 365-acres of beautiful woodland.

What do you want from a Peterborough estate agent?

What is it that makes one estate agent better than the rest? We think it’s an agent’s depth of local knowledge that makes the difference. That way you can be confident that your agent can help you find your ideal home, in your ideal location. When it comes to Peterborough, we are experts. In fact we are the only agent that covers the entire region – every single postcode district. Want some friendly advice? We are ready when you are.
