Belvoir Residential Lettings Agents Smashes Its Charity Target

One year after announcing a charity fundraising drive, national property lettings specialist, Belvoir, has smashed its original target and raised over £16,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Belvoir, which has a local lettings agents in Peterborough on Lincoln Road originally set a goal of £10,000 when it launched its campaign with a “Go Green Day? on 1 February 2011.But it achieved that figure within the first seven months and spurred on by this success, the company has renewed its commitment to the charity and will continue to raise funds, via a wide range of events and activities, for a further year.

“I am incredibly proud that Belvoir?s UK wide offices have achieved so much for Macmillan,” says Dorian Gonsalves, chief executive officer of the company. Macmillan is a fantastic charity, which helps so many people and is well known to all our franchise owners, as well as landlords and tenants, who have been extremely generous in their support. The campaign has united Belvoir offices across the UK and enabled us to work towards a common goal.”

Amongst the range of inventive, challenging and often humorous money-spinning activities undertaken by Belvoir offices were sponsored sky dives, a 10k road race, charity golf tournaments, bike rides and a sponsored silence. Many that contributed to the total fund also support other causes in their local community and Macmillan Fundraising Manager, Gemma Shaw, said: “This level of support is a remarkable achievement over the course of one year and I am overwhelmed at the fantastic amount of money raised by Belvoir office owners, their staff, clients and friends.

“This money will truly make a difference to those people who hear the words: “I?m sorry, you have cancer. The money raised will be spent in a number of ways. One example is covering the £9,387 weekly cost of running our CancerLine (0800 808 0000). CancerLine deals with, on average 760 calls and emails a week from people affected by cancer providing them with essential information as well as practical and emotional support.’ Each and every penny does make a difference at Macmillan and we offer a heartfelt thank you to Belvoir, on behalf of all of us at the charity.”

Terry Lucking , who owns Belvoir Lettings Agency in Peterborough, added ”After researching a number of different charities it was agreed that Macmillan would be Belvoir’s charity of the year. We are delighted with the level of support which has been generated and look forward to continuing the relationship with Macmillan for a further year.”
