Hugh Horton

Hughie is a Thanetian born and bred and was educated at Chatham House Grammar School in Ramsgate. He joined the Army in 1978 and rose quickly through the ranks to Regimental Sergeant Major of the Second Royal Tank Regiment prior to being commissioned to Captain in 1998 and appointed to a Tank Squadron Second-in-Command’s post on Challenger 2 main battle tanks, before assuming the position of Regimental Quartermaster some 18 months later. January 2002 saw his promotion to Major and appointment to Squadron Leader, commanding over 200 personnel for two years including the Iraq war in 2003 where Hughie was awarded a Commander 7th Armoured Brigade’s (The Desert Rats) Commendation for his operational service during the war fighting operations in Iraq. On his return to the UK in late 2003 he served as a member of the directing staff on the junior officer’s tactical awareness course for 2 years before attending the Command and Staff course at Shrivenham in 2005. His final six years up to retirement were served as a Staff Officer in senior estate management posts looking after UK-wide military organisations’ accommodation and estate issues. Hughie retired from the Army in September 2012 and finally returned home to Thanet for good after serving in Northern Ireland, Germany, Cyprus, Canada, Kosovo, Kuwait, Iraq, USA and UK. He has recently set up his own family business, Belvoir! Thanet, which is a property lettings specialist dealing in all aspects of domestic property management.

Hughie and his wife Karen, also a Thanetian, have a daughter Rachel and son Gavin, whom also works at Belvoir.

Gavin Horton

Gavin has over 9 years experience within the industry and his local knowledge and grasp of the local property markets mean he is a heavily relied upon resource for many an investor looking at purchasing property in Thanet. This, coupled with the experience he has when dealing with tenants' and landlords' needs simultaneously means all our clients are satisfied and their requirements are dealt with efficiently.
