Hitchin is a charming medieval market town. Nearby towns include Letchworth (4 miles north east), Stevenage (5 miles south east) and Luton (7 miles south west).
Good commuter links including main-line rail to London make it an ideal town for professionals working in the City as well as young couples and families.
The town has retained its market town feel and has many fine Tudor and Georgian buildings, particularly around the market square. In the centre of the market square is a clock made by Gatwards, the jewellers, who have had a shop in Hitchin since 1760.
The town provides good shopping for residents while a street market is situated near the church on a Saturday.
Hitchin has good nightlife with a wide variety of restaurants and pubs along with nightclubs. Hitchin has two theatres - The Queen Mother Theatre and The Market Theatre while cinemas and other attractions can be found in nearby towns.
Tourist attractions include Hitchin Museum and also Hitchin British Schools Museum.
