Two young entrepreneurs who swapped a career in retailing to move into property lettings have won a top award from nationwide residential property specialists, Belvoir.
Nathan Crombie and Wai Lam collected a Gold award for the Belvoir Group’s ‘Best Acquisition’ of 2015, at a presentation staged at Coombe Abbey in Coventry.
The business partnership bought Belvoir’s Brighton and Hove franchise from a previous owner in Spring 2015 and in a short time have breathed new life into it – recently moving to larger premises at 115 Western Road, Brighton.
In their previous careers both Nathan and Wai managed a range of major stores for some of the biggest names on the High Street, finally leaving frozen food giant Iceland, to take on the challenge of property management.
Both private landlords themselves, they have called upon transferable management skills and experience to take the Brighton and Hove office to a new level.
Presenting them with their gold award, Belvoir Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mike Goddard, said: “Nathan and Wai have achieved a very successful transition, showing a great deal of energy and commitment to this new venture.
“There were some challenging circumstances to overcome but they have persevered and are now well on track to build a great business. They have been successful in retaining many of the office’s existing clients and have well laid plans to broaden out and expand the range of services they offer to local landlords, tenants, investors and property vendors.”
Nathan said: “With the vast experience, resources and powerful brand of Belvoir behind us we have the confidence to build a business that is, for the first time in our careers, our very own – with the support of one of the biggest names in the industry.”
Wai adds: “Above all we are focusing on managing the expectations of our clients and the wide range of individual property solutions they each require. We intend to deliver very exacting service levels that will establish us as one of the most professional agents in the region.
“We have set realistic targets for where we want to be and are thrilled to receive this award in recognition of the hard work we have put in and the support we have received over the past year.”
Mike Goddard added: “Last year Belvoir celebrated 20 years of growth and success and just two weeks ago we were also included in a list compiled by the London Stock Exchange Group of the top 1000 ‘most inspirational’ companies in Britain.
“Nathan and Wai are a perfect example of the drive and ambition that goes into making a successful business venture and we draw our own inspiration from this.”
