Belvoir's guide to summer homeware

If you haven’t given your home a little summer update, then now is the time!

The majority of us change our wardrobes seasonally and give ourselves a little update when new trends come into play, so why not give your home the same treatment. Home styling is a great way to express your personality and individual style, plus it’s always nice to come back home after a hectic day to somewhere you can relax and feel proud of. We are well into summer, so if you haven’t given your home a little summer update, then now is the time!

Here is our guide to the latest summer homeware trends…

Tropical Prints;

They are here to stay after last year’s popularity, and are a great way to brighten up any space. Think bright florals, vivid shocks of colour and jungle-esque backgrounds and you are well on your way to creating your very own tropical haven.

Natural Materials;

As you may know natural prints are huge this seasons, but we are also seeing more and more real-life plants and natural furniture and materials creeping into indoor spaces. If you are looking for a natural/organic vibe, then this is definitely the right trend for you- it is a great way to make you home feel fresh and airy.

Shabby Chic;

This is probably one of the most popular trends ever and is still going strong 20 years after the term was first coined! This electric style mixes antique furniture, pastel colours and lace and feminine florals- often referred to as country chic or vintage chic. If you are into upcycled or antique furniture then this trend is the one for you!

Golden Oasis;

This trend fills the home with a warm glow- imagine a tranquil summers night. If you want to make this trend more authentic, then add some bohemian accents. Macramé, fringing, and tassels are huge features for this trend and really add that finishing touch. You’ll find them on cushions, wall hangings, throws, rugs and accessories. This trend will ultimately add a handmade quality to any room in your house and create a beautiful tactile feel.

Bright and Bold;

Colour pops are huge this season and are a great way to reflect your personal style- this trend is all about mixing bright colours together! Some may think it’s too much, but if you are feeling brave then why not give it ago. This trend is easily manageable, start with one or two main colours and use these to ground the rest of the look- use textures and don’t be afraid to team patterns and stripes together.
