If you rent out residential property(ies) in Northern Ireland, time is running out for you to register as a landlord.
All landlords for a property have to register. However, if you own several properties, they can all be recorded under the same registration number.
Failure to do so can lead to a fixed penalty fine of up to £500, or up to £2,500 if the matter proceeds to Court. The local Councils are tasked with enforcing this.
There are 2 ways to register, on-line, (the cost is £70.00 per landlord),
or via paper application form, (cost is £80.00 per application) and the Council should have the application forms.
You will also need your Energy Performance Certificate rating. If you do not have this information, or are unsure if you have an EPC, you can check on-line:
EPC’s for rented properties, have been a legal requirement since 30/12/2008.
