Belvoir’s Apprenticeship Scheme wins recognition at awards

The Belvoir Central Office Apprenticeship Scheme continues to be highly successful, with accounting apprentice Adam Egner, winning Accounting Apprentice of the Year at Grantham College & University Centre, and Belvoir also winning Employer of the Year in recognition of the support and mentoring the company continually offers to apprentices.

Adam and Pauline Finance Director Louise George, who accepted the Employer of the Year Award on behalf of Belvoir, said: “I would like to congratulate Adam on his success. He does a fantastic job and always strives to achieve a very high standard in all of his work here at Belvoir.

“We are delighted that Belvoir has won the BDC Employer of the Year award, which is testimony to the hard work of Belvoir’s HR Manager, Janine Cumberland. Janine has done so much to develop Belvoir’s successful Apprenticeship Scheme and ensure that the best support is in place for apprentices; identifying appropriate roles that will be of most benefit to everyone concerned.

“Belvoir Central Office currently has four fantastic apprentices – Adam Egner and Catalyn Bavister, who won Accounting Apprentice of the Year two years ago, plus Harry Sutton in IT and Sara Lenkiewicz in HR. A former apprentice is now working in a full time role at our Grantham office, proving that the scheme has the potential to be a stepping stone to a new career.”

Belvoir’s HR Manager, Janine Cumberland said: “Belvoir’s Apprenticeship Scheme is a valuable initiative, providing meaningful training, qualifications and work opportunities to local young people. Belvoir Central Office has a good reputation for being a business that people want to work for, and I pride myself on my contribution to that.”

Winning apprentice Adam Egner, who is looking forward to studying for his level 4 qualifications in September, said: “It was a very pleasant surprise to win the award. I always went to college with the mindset of gaining my professional qualifications to the highest possible score, so for my efforts to be recognised like this is great.

“Throughout my two years with Belvoir I’ve already achieved so much, and really value the opportunity I’ve been given. The experience, knowledge and support I’ve gained from others in the Belvoir accounts department has been invaluable and together with what I’ve learnt from my studies at college, I couldn’t ask for a better start to my career.”

Pauline Mould, Business Development Manager at Grantham College & University Centre said: “Belvoir has recruited and supported apprentices across three departments in their Central Office over the last three years, offering broad, interesting, job roles in a highly professional environment, which are an excellent launch into good careers for every apprentice. Senior managers at Belvoir drive the programme to ensure the apprenticeship role is integral to the operation of each department.

“The support and mentoring that Belvoir offers to their apprentices, enabling them to progress in their qualifications, is exceptional. Consequently, the apprentices value the opportunities they are given and are keen and motivated, developing confidence and self-esteem in addition to their vocational skills.”
