General Description 

The S6 area in Sheffield is made up of many great locations such as Walkley, a north west suburb of Sheffield which lies north east of Crookes and South of Hillsborough. A popular area with young professionals, post grads and young families being just outside of the main student areas of Broomhill and Crookes.

Another fantastic location in S6 is Hillsborough. Home to Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, Hillsborough lies 3 miles north west of Sheffield City Centre which is about a 10 minute drive. It was named after Hillsborough House which was built in tribute to the Earl of Hillsborough who lived in Hillsborough in County Down, Ireland.

The properties within Hillsborough are mostly terraced housing and the landmark Regents Court apartment block. Walkley is mainly made up of Victorian terraced houses intermingled with some newer semi-detached properties. There are also several brand new build blocks of apartments. Whilst in other popular locations in S6 such as Bradfield, Dungworth, Holdworth, Hollow Meadows and Loxley, boast a majority of great detached housing.  

S6 also provides places for your weekly shop in the form of an Asda supermarket in Walkley and a large Morrisons in Hillsborough. In Hillsborough, there is also the Hillsbrough Exchange Shopping Centre which houses shops, such as Timpsons, Specsavers, Boots, Home Bargains

Within S6 there are various parks including Ruskin Park, which hosts the annual Ruskin Park fun day and has a games area and playground. It also featured in the film The Full Monty. Hillsborough park is also very popular. It is huge at approximately 20 hectares sq2 and boasts historic buildings, a walled garden, playground, sports facilities and a fishing lake.

 

Transport

There are multiple bus routes including the 31, 52, 57 and the 95 in Walkley and the 38, 57, 81, 82, in Hillsborough. Both of which give easy travel to the city center.
