Lottie’s Guides to Peterborough: A quick introduction to living in Wansford

Curious about living in Wansford? It’s just ten-miles west of Peterborough, but a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Here’s a short introduction about what you can expect from living in Wansford.

The quintessential rural retreat

The first thing you will notice about Wansford is how pretty it is. Rows of charming sand-coloured cottages flank the banks of the River Nene – and then you realise. Despite being just ten miles from Peterborough along the A47, Wansford delivers blissful escapism from the hustle and bustle of urban life. With a population of around 500, it’s the kind of place where you are afforded all the freedom you need to be yourself while being part of a friendly, tight-knit community.

Schools

With the freedom of the great outdoors and little sound other than the rustle of wind in the trees and the gentle lilt of birdsong, Wansford is a fabulous place to start – or raise – a family. But of course there’s more to parenting than finding a green and pleasant land for your little ones. There has to be a selection of good schools too. Thankfully you don’t have to travel far to find schools that are highly rated by Ofsted.

Anything else you should know?

It really is hard to overstate the charm of this quaint little village. A Sunday stroll beside the River Nene should be all you need to become hooked. But there’s much more on your doorstep to explore than riverside walks. The Grade-1 Listed Prebendal Manor House is fascinating. Ditto for the gothic architecture and beautiful gardens of Elton Hall. Go explore.
