Gold Medal Homes!

We’ve got some serious carnival vibes going on today, with the huge opening ceremony party of the Rio 2016 Olympics just days away, we’re all eyes on Team GB…and more importantly, their homes! From the quirky to the downright jaw-dropping, we take a look at where some of Britain’s best athletes call home and the stories behind their purchases!

Andy Murray

When you’ve got a net worth of £48million you can probably afford a nice house or two…well, tennis ace Andy Murray took it one step further and bought a whole hotel! After purchasing it for a close to £2million in 2013, Andy decided it was time for a refurb. Reports suggest he ploughed £6million into refurbishing the traditional hotel which you’ll probably agree is the epitome of chic now!

Greg Rutherford

The British Long jumper lives most of his time in a pretty little cottage in Milton Keynes and whilst most of the rich and famous choose to build a super-basement or gigantic garage, humble Greg decided he would stick to his roots, and got his dad to build him a long jump pit in his back garden, meaning he can practice at home! Now that’s what we call homework…

Following on from London 2012, Britain’s Golden Girl went and bought herself a new house. Jessica swapped her £300k semi for a £1million Peak District mansion – well, where else is a girl to hang her gold medal?! The stunning sandstone house boasts three reception rooms, bespoke granite worktops and a chic entertaining terrace…we just wonder what she’ll buy after Rio!!

Mark Cavendish

When Mark isn’t cycling around, he’s spending time at his properties, he explained to London Evening Standard. Cavendish owns three properties, one on the Isle of Man, one in France and another in Italy (Tuscany to be precise!). However, Mark admitted that when he’s in London he loves staying in Morgans hotels, specifically on St Martins Lane enjoying the cool design by world-renowned designer Philippe Starck.

We can’t wait for the Olympics to start and just hope that the athletes village matches up to these stunning homes!
