Eating out in Sheffield

Welcome to my blog, Rumbles Blog. The blog of probably the most knowledgable English Bulldog you will ever meet!

This week I've been bored with my usual dog bowl and thought I would investigate some of the food on offer around Sheffield.

The food scene around Sheffield has really developed in recent years, there is now loads of different food offerings in Sheffield, something for every mood I could ever be in!

A good place to start is Leopold Square in the heart of Sheffield City Centre.  A collection of great restaurants including Italian restaurants Strada and Zizzi, independent mexican restaurant Cubana, and Brazilian buffet restaurant Topeiro. All great places and an advantage of Leopold Square is that you have a great selection of different places to choose from all in one place.

Similarly, at the top of Division Street West One Plaza is situated in the heart of the cosmopolitan Devonshire Quarter and hosts eateries including the renowned Yorkshire Indian Akbars, unique Mexican dishes at Las Iguanas, oriental food from Wading and even Korean dishes at Ginseng. A real cosmopolitan mixture.

A trot down Ecclesall Road to the south of the city centre brings up more delights. There are some long established venues such as Uncle Sam's, an American style diner, and Nonnas Italian, alongside some new venues such as Craft and Dough serving craft beer and pizza, and the Graze Inn serving Thornbridge Beers and contemporary dishes, always popular.

Take a turn down to the Kelham Island area of the city and you find the renowned award winning Millstone, best described as a top quality gastro pub. They also have a sister venue in the city centre on Campo Lane overlooking the Georgian character of Paradise Square (just alongside the Belvoir! Sheffield offices), a bustling gastro pub on the edge of the city centre serving food all day.

Silversmiths is a well renowned restaurant close to Sheffield Hallam City Centre, with a big reputation for its al carte menu and its well know pie night every Tuesday (launched by Gordon Ramsey). Silversmiths is just one restaurant at the disposal of people living in Sheffield City Centre in city loft and apartment developments such as St Pauls City Loft Development, who have a great range of independent restaurants such mixing with national chains such as Piccolino's by the Sheffield Winter Gardens right outside their front door of the development.

There are always lots of great city centre apartments, flats and city lofts in Sheffield available for rent.

However, after all that, none of them did the dog food that I like so I had a drink in one of the many bars that Sheffield city centre has to offer and trotted off home for one of my favourite treats. But thats just me.
