Be in...Brighton!

Oh, we do like to be beside the seaside…and according to Rough Guides, Brighton is one of the best seaside towns in the country. There are so many reasons to call Brighton home, and it was a tough task whittling the reasons down to a digestible few, have a read and then make your decision!

When it comes to finding things to do, Brighton brings a whole host to the party – from its famous pier to the quaint shopping lanes you’ll find it hard to have a boring weekend in the bright and vibrant town. Over the past few years, hordes of City dwellers have ditched London living and moved to Brighton – it’s no surprise really when you can have fresh air and beaches all whilst being just an hour’s train journey away from work.

Brighton boasts a lot of open space, whether it’s a day on the beach in the summer or a picnic at the beautiful Preston Park, it has many perfect ways to truly escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy some quiet time. Brighton is held as one of the cultural hubs of the south coast, with a truly metropolitan atmosphere it proves itself as an immersive place to call home time and time again, including the town’s annual Pride weekend, the huge popularity of the celebration has put Brighton on the map as the LGBT hub in the UK.

When it comes to property, the Brighton seafront is synonymous with white regency era buildings. House prices aren’t as steep as you might initially think with Zoopla suggesting the current average house price sits at around £387,000, which if you’re moving from London, could be quite an appealing proposition!

If you’re moving to the area as a family, there is absolutely no doubt that schools will play a big part in where you decide to live. In terms of infant’s schools, St Luke’s CofE has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and when they’ve grown up, Blatchington Mill school has recorded some of the best GCSE results. The University of Brighton is also set to open a Secondary School in September 2018.

Further education is also available at the Brighton, Hove and Sussex Sixth Form College which Ofsted judged as ‘good’ and the area also offers a selection of Private Education establishments should that be of interest.

Brighton hosts most major high street retailers around its popular Churchill Square area, there is also a plethora of beautiful independent stores, cafes and restaurants in the extremely popular North Laine area of the town. Brighton is full of famous landmarks, the Art Deco style Saltdean Lido being one – this community pool is currently closed for restoration to give the popular facility a new lease of life!
