Self-managing a property can be a rewarding experience but, at times, a time-consuming one. In some cases it can be an absolute nightmare! It boils down to the tenants you have living in your property.
Choosing the right tenants to enter into an agreement is of paramount importance and a learned skill. Getting it right first time is a must.
So where do things go wrong? At Belvoir Lettings Congleton we choose tenants carefully. Not only do we checks things like their ID, affordability and rental history but we gauge what they're like as people and make sure things ring true.
This is done by careful questioning and is a skill that is acquired with experience of doing the job. Rather like a detective putting questions to a suspect, although not quite as direct as this, the negotiator needs to find out more about the person(s) by having a friedly chat whilst on the viewing to make sure that what they're saying is cogent.
If anything seems inconsistent then we are likely to reject an application; we do have ways and means of doing this discreetly and tactfully. Again this is a skill that is learned over a period of time
