Arranging my finances to buy a house in Sheffield!

Welcome to my blog, Rumbles Blog. The blog of probably the most knowledgable English Bulldog you will ever meet!

This week, I’ve started to get a little bit bored of my kennel so have decided to look to buy a house or flat in Sheffield

So I found a great place by looking at houses for sale in Sheffield with Belvoir! and was all set to jump in but I was sent packing straight away, falling at the first hurdle with the banks when asking for a mortgage.

It wasn’t so much that I’m a dog and they don’t lend to dogs, I managed to talk my way around that (I’m good at that), it was when they did the financial checks that I got turned down due to my somewhat checkered financial history.

So I signed up to one of those online financial history websites – the dog equivalent of Experian – and had a good sniff about. It turns out that there was nothing major, I would have been aware of that, just a few late payments and outstanding debts with a few pet shops around the place that I had forgotten about.

What this little exercise gave me chance to do was to sort it out! This information is exactly what the mortgage lenders see so I could see exactly why they would be turning me down and what I would need to do to correct it and get my financial status back to looking at its very best.

Slight problem with me is that I can’t pay them back and I’m no good at saving so I’ll stick to me kennel.

But, for you I’ve got some good advice for you there. Get online and check out your financial history first before you approach any mortgage lender, it will enable you to correct any mistakes and get yourself financially ship shape before you apply.  Good advice that.
